PEF Holds Inaugural Scholarship Banquet
In an effort to provide a special event for graduating PHS seniors who have earned college scholarships, the PEF, along with the high school, organized a scholarship banquet for seniors and their families on Sunday, May 6, at the Parsons Golf Club.
Over 175 people attended the inaugural affair in which dozens of students were
recognized for several hundred thousand dollars in scholarships. PHS alums Trinity
(Staten) Davis ’93 and Dr. John (Jed) Hetlinger ’95 were the evenings keynote speakers,
and each, in their own way, challenged the seniors to set goals and strive for excellence.
This year the PEF awarded twelve scholarships. To select the recipients, seniors
submitted a written application and the PEF scholarship committee scored the
applications based on GPA, ACT, financial need, high school curriculum, and extra-
curricular activities. The committee then interviewed the top twenty-two scored
applications. The recipients were selected from the total score from the application and

Ashleigh Dixon – $1000 William L. and Mary Paula Fees Family Scholarship, presented by Bill Fees.
Eric Cornell and Amanda Moerlien – $1000 Laforge and Budd Construction Company Scholarships.
Bridgette Kendricks – $500 Jerry Wilson Sr. Memorial Minority Scholarship.
Melissa Dishman – $500 Kathleen L. (Leeper) Wade Memorial Scholarship.
Victoria Brenn – $500 David and Margaret Harris Scholarship.
Beth Dringenberg – $500 Cindy Helms & Janet Walters Memorial Food Service Scholarship.
Jacob Breneman, Elisa Winchell, Kate LaForge, Prather Kutz – $500 Parsons Educational Foundation Scholarships.
